The historic Theatre Albany has completed their weeks-long building renovations and is ready to welcome audiences for their season opener.
Crews have been working for about six weeks on the historic building replacing old wood, pressure washing, installing a new handicap ramp and updating landscaping.
Gary Unger for the board of Theatre Albany said these updates and renovations will hopefully impact the community as well.
“I think people are going to see a new refreshing look not only outside but inside the theatre,” said Unger.
This location has hosted all of Theatre Albany’s shows since 1964.
The 2017-2018 opening show, Beauty and the Beast, starts Friday, September 22nd.
According to the theatre’s website, Theatre Albany is the oldest and one of the most highly regarded cultural organizations in the city of Albany.
The theatre was the home of Captain John A. Davis.
In 1980, it earned a designation on the National Register of Historic Places.
