5 Ways to Eat Your Way Through National Peanut Day

September 13 of each year is National Peanut Day, where many celebrate the beloved legume, the peanut.

Georgia is considered the peanut capitol of the U.S., growing nearly producing nearly half of the nation's peanut crop.

In celebration of National Peanut Day, here are five ways you can celebrate this little nut that plays a big part of our lives.

1. Peanuts (what else?)

Whether you like them out of the shell, honey roasted, or as a topping to a sundae, peanuts that haven’t been smashed or ground are the (obvious) choice to celebrate National Peanut Day.

2. Peanut Butter

Crunchy or smooth? Whipped or regular? Ever use Goobers for your PB&J? Whatever your preference, South Georgia is a massive exporter of peanut butter. It’s hard to go wrong with peanut butter when celebrating this day.

3. Dessert: Peanut Butter Pie

Our mouths just watered a little bit there. Peanut butter pie is a classic southern dessert that’s easy to make and hard to put away! Here’s our current favorite recipe.

4. Southern Tradition: Peanuts in Coke

The conversation about peanuts in coke has been brewing recently, although this use for peanuts has been in place for decades. The classic way to enjoy this treat is to pour plain peanuts from a small snack package into a glass bottle of Coke. Yum!

5. Sweet tooth: Candy

When it comes to peanut products in candy, what do you turn to first? Peanut M&Ms? Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups? So many of these choices have become a staple of the candy isle at convenience stores and checkout lines at the supermarket.
